About this badge

Rec Sports Champions are student employees who have consistently distinguished themselves among their peers for their outstanding effort and commitment over their tenure at OSU Rec Sports. These are staff members who create and promote attitudes, behaviors, and a work environment that contribute to a culture of well-being. They are standout leaders who foster an inclusive environment, strive to excel while also pushing others to continuously improve.

Alex joined the IT Team in the late spring of 2020 just as the pandemic was gearing up and everything was starting to shut down. Going into the summer and fall months Alex did a great deal of learning about the Department and the variety of IT systems remotely, including assisting fellow co-workers with their remote workstations. One of Alex’s first big projects was learning about the IT budget and replacement cycles and figuring out the best way to adjust the budget to meet a possible decrease in funding.

Over the course of the last few months and year Alex has shown he is a vital member of the IT area and the Department. Alex not only works for Rec Sports, but he also works for the Community Network (or the OSU Service Desk) providing support on a more campus wide. He brings that knowledge of the OSU Service Desk to the Department and has taken a lead on building the first Rec Sports IT Knowledgebase system, which will help support both administrative and student staff when dealing with IT sessions.

Beyond working for Rec Sports, Alex is currently studying for a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and is actively involved in the OSU Overclocking Club and Kendo Club. Working with Alex has shown that he has a strong work ethic, cares about the work he does, and wants to better himself on a daily basis both as an IT professional and an individual.

Alex is truly a Rec Sports Champion, thank you for everything that you do.
