Introduction

Basno is a new platform that helps organizations and companies create authenticated badges or tokens of appreciation that they can either give away or sell. It's the online version of known offline signs of achievements such as: - Medals (for sports, military, educational achievement) - Trophies (for competitions, leagues) - Pins (for showing support or affiliation with unions, political parties, courses) - Certificates (for showing approved skills via universities, courses, programs)

Creating Value for Users

People are increasingly building online profiles via social networks like Facebook, MySpace, Linkedin and personal blogs. However, there are currently few methods where a person can show off any of the above-mentioned signs of achievements in an authenticated way. We create value for users by offering users the ability to show of trusted achievements on their digital profiles. This is a major advantage for the users as these online profiles are increasingly the main source of information for others researching individuals.

And Value for Badge Providers

Basno provides a platform that organizations can use to offer this type of authenticated membership or affiliation experience by creating unique serial numbers, embedding unique invisible watermarks, and/or creating 2d bar codes for each instance of the badges on the platform. This allows for the easy validation of a badge, which provides a host of advantages for the issuing organization:

• Authentication: ensuring the person claiming to have a badge is actually the real owner of it.
• Tracking & Statistics: Basno can monitor who's using the badges, where on the web badges are being placed, and when they're being viewed.
• Scarcity: Increase the value of digital goods by creating scarcity through limited issuance of badges.
• Promotions: Use the 2d barcodes to offer promotions & collect more information about badge owners.
• Increased SEO opportunities
• Increased and physically linked marketing opportunities.

Business Model

Basno allows badge providers to either give badges away for free or to charge for them. If Basno is providing the infrastructure to sell a badge, it takes 30% of the retail value that each badge sells for. If a badge provider gives the badge away for free (or sell it themselves), Basno charges $0.30 per issued badge. This provides a 1 to 3 year instance of the badge, depending on the interest and needs of the partner.
